Funding for The Keg Spirit Foundation is raised through a variety of ways including; company-wide promotions, the sale of Keg branded products at retailers across Canada, and local store fundraising initiatives. Foundation operating costs are underwritten by Keg Restaurants Ltd. and therefore, the Foundation is able to donate 100% of the funding raised to local charities.
Over the last 10 years, there have been many inspiring stories of Keggers making a difference by giving their time, energy and enthusiasm to worthwhile causes. One of those stories is The Keg Spirit Foundation Kilimanjaro Climb that happened in 2010. Inspired by three Keggers that cycled across Canada in 2006 to raise funds for our Foundation, our president David Aisenstat, along with 9 others, took on Mount Kilimanjaro. All 10 climbers summitted Uhuru Peak at 19,339 feet, and together raised over $320,000 for our foundation with the support of staff, guests, suppliers, and franchisees.
Our support goes beyond dollars. Keg employees are encouraged to donate their time and energy to local initiatives that benefit their communities. Whether they are participating in local charity walks, filling the storerooms of emergency shelters, or providing special dinners for families in need, Keg staff come together in a variety of ways to help their communities.
